Its really difficult to design something that’s simple and offers a uniqueness through its simplicity.” -Brian Kane Brian Kane’s career includes work in Milan, Italy, for Architect Silvio Coppola, and in New York for Atelier International where he was involved in contract furniture and showroom design projects, as well as the start-up of U.S. production of Italian designs. Mr. Kane joined Metropolitan Furniture Corporations design staff in 1977 and maintained his position as Vice President when Steelcase acquired Metro. While at Metropolitan Furniture he met a talented engineer named Kirk Hobbs. Kirk always envisioned a furniture company based on the love of good design, a place to create simple, practical and beautiful furnishings that would be multifunctional as well as comfortable. Brian encouraged this dream and in 1998 designed the first collection for Offi, Kirk Hobbs’s new company. Brian now heads Kane Design Studio in San Fransisco. |
